Launch!
January 26, 2010
What started as a logo redesign ended in my entire website being redesigned from the ground up. Some might call it a realignment, but I say redesign.
While discussing my new logo with Michael Dick, I realized it was going to be hard to implement it into my old site. My initial plan was to clean it up and fix a few things that bothered me. Mike went and said the dreaded R word that got my brain churning.
My issue with a redesign was the fact I'd take forever, or so I thought. As most designers know it's extremely hard to design for yourself. I didn't want to take forever, and I sure as hell didn't want to do comp after comp after comp. I told myself I'd explore the idea of a complete redesign, but wasn't sold quite yet.
That night I began sketching on a random sheet of paper while heading into DC. When I returned home that's when I went crazy and couldn't stop. After 30 minutes of sketching I fired up Photoshop and laid a few pixels down. A few minutes later I cut myself off, but knew what had to be done.
Friday was going to be slow, and I knew I could spend a fair amount of time on my site. I told myself one comp, that was it, and that's what I did. That afternoon I began designing what you see now...
That was four days ago. As you can see I went all out, and I must say I'm quite happy. This site design and blog will be around for a long time to come, so please visit often.
Thank you!
A HUGE thank you goes to Michael Dick and my girlfriend. Mike pushed me to redesign, and he helped squash some bugs along the way. My girlfriend once again put up with my incessant design talk and non-stop work-a-holic attitude.
